RINGING CAMP "RUSANDA 2008"
In the period between beginning of September and the end of October 2008 Biology student study and research society “Josif Pancic” organizes bird ringing camp on the lake Rusanda, beside the village of Melenci (N Serbia). This ringing camp is part of the project “Valorization of natural values of the lake Rusanda as a basis for conservation – Protect Rusanda!” funded by the Secretary for nature conservation of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, which will be realized in the village Melenci in that same period in cooperation with organization of Youth club "Krug" from Melenci. Long-eared owl winter roost census
The Biology Student Science and Research Society “Josif Pančić” in cooperation with the Knjaz Miloš Company and their brand Guarana is organising the Long-eared Owl (Asio otus) Winter Roost Census in Serbia. Expedition “Čemerno Mt. 2007”
3-11th July 2007, Čemerno Mt. – 18 participants from 5 scientific sections joined unique expedition to the remote parts of an unknown mountain.
Expedition on Čemerno Mt. was carried out in the period of July 3rd-11th. Researchers from organizations BSSRS “Josif Pančić” from Novi Sad and Ecological and Research Society “Mladen Karaman” (ERS) from Kragujevac were located in a Tolišnica village. One part of the expedition crew was situated in a local Hunting Lodge while the other part was camping in tents on a meadow near local pub „Hanomag“. The aim of the expedition was to determine plant, animal and habitat diversity of the mountain. Results of this research will be especially valuable during process for preservation of this habitat as Čemerno mountain has the potential to be valued as a protected nature area in future. Exit 2007 - The Birds Need a Home, Too
During the EXIT 07 Festival (12th-15th July 2007), group of 50 young people will build and hang bird boxes at the EXIT Camp and the Petrovaradin Fortress. A large number of bird species which live in cities are endangered by insufficient number of places for nesting, which could be solved successfully by providing artificial homes. The volunteeres from Serbia and the volunteers of neighbouring countries will have the aim to contribute spreading consciousness about needs for bird protection and help, through active work and Medias. Bird-ringing camp “Mrtva Tisa 2007“
In period between 5th and 30th August 2007 Biology student study and research society “Josif Pancic” organizes bird ringing camp on the Mrtva Tisa oxbow near the village of Backo Gradiste (Vojvodina, N Serbia). The camp will be settled in the cottage settlement Donji Boronj on the right side of the river. Ringers will sleep partially in the cottages or in the tents, it depends upon the number of present people. Orphean warbler - new breeder for Serbia
Bujanovac, the river Pcinja valley. During our visit to the village Vogance (UTM EM78) on 4th May we encountered and photographed one adult Eastern Orphean Warbler (Sylvia crassirostris) carrying a nesting material on several occasions. MORE...
