Exit 2007 - The Birds Need a Home, Too
During the EXIT 07 Festival (12th-15th July 2007), group of 50 young people will build and hang bird boxes at the EXIT Camp and the Petrovaradin Fortress. A large number of bird species which live in cities are endangered by insufficient number of places for nesting, which could be solved successfully by providing artificial homes. The volunteeres from Serbia and the volunteers of neighbouring countries will have the aim to contribute spreading consciousness about needs for bird protection and help, through active work and Medias.
There will be 50 of chosen volunteers, aged 18 to 28. The condition of participating in the project will be experience in realization of similar projects, as well as dedication to birds and nature itself.
Participants will be located within the EXIT Camp in tents. Everyone wil have to bring it’s own sleeping-bags! The sponsor Lush Cosmetics will provide breakfast and lunch during the Festival for every participant in the Project, as well as 4-day EXIT 07 tickets.
The aim of the project is improving public sensibility to various problems of birds’ survival and the maintenance of their habitats in Serbia. Since EXIT Fest gathers a huge number of young people from all over the world, this is the best way of spreading positive ideas and experiences. We will give our best in explaining problems and presenting solutions to birds’ survival, through various actions and trainings.
During the EXIT 07 Festival the project
will be realized at the Petrovaradin Tower and the EXIT
Camp (Novi Sad). One part of the bird boxes is allocated
for hanging in the ’Nature Park Great War Island’
in Belgrade. EXIT Festival goes on from 12th to 15th
July 2007, and the bird boxes will be hanged at the
’Great War Island’ during
September 2007.
Expected results are:
-
providing better conditions for nesting of tree-hole loving bird species,
-
awareness of a need for better bird protection,
-
education of volunteers and other festival visitors
We would also like to pin point the necessity of public interest in this problem. We consider this project to be a unique opportunity for promoting LUSH as a brand which sincerely cares about the environment.
